Special sightings in Queen National Park and the Kasenyi plains are found in Queen Elizabeth National Park located in Kasese in the Western part of Uganda. Kasenyi plains is in the North Eastern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, also referred to as the Mweya-Kasenyi sector in contrast to the Ishasha sector South of Queen Elizabeth National Park. The plains provide fascinating views of the savannah roaming with antelopes and Uganda kobs.

Since the plains have a lot of antelopes, many lions as well as other cats are usually seen here as most of them target the antelopes for their prey. While in the Kasenyi plains, you can also take a 2-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga channel that connects Lake Edward and George. The 2-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga channel, provides you with opportunities to spot animals both in the water as well as those grazing on the shores of the lake.

Kazinga Channel

This connects both Lake Edward and Lake George. It also provides opportunities to spot a lot of wildlife both in the water like the crocodiles and hippos and those resting and playing near the lake shores like elephants.

Kasenyi Airstrip

This is located next to the plains and this makes it easy for visitors who don’t want to spend a lot of time on the road. They may fly to the Kasenyi airfield and be picked up by their driver guide in the safari vehicle

Kasenyi plains can be reached from Kampala on a 7-hour drive via Mityana, Mubende, Fort Portal and Kasese arriving at the park.

By air

With the help of your tour operator, charter flights can be booked from Kajansi and Entebbe International Airport by Aero Link and Fly Uganda arriving at the Mweya and Kasese airfield in 1hours time.
